I decided to encrypt all of my personal information on my desktop at home and began to research my options. First, I used Truecrypt which is able to encrypt entire partitions or create individual files that can be mounted as filesystems. Dual-boot *nix, os x + Windows = Incorrect Windows Time

By Shane Par-Due • Jan 31st, 2008 • Category: OS

When a strapping young lad dual-boots an operating system that bases it’s local time on UTC (Official U.S. Time Clock) with a Windows partition, he will soon find out that his clock is always off by the time he finds himself back in Windows. Windows likes to look at the system clock and then apply the appropriate time zone’s time when it feels like syncing which will cause it to be off for quite awhile when you first boot into windows. This easy fix I’m about to show you will tell Windows to consult the UTC for it’s time and make for a little more enjoyable Windows experience (just a little more).

Ever had to image a partition that was too big for a cd and you don’t have a dvd-burner or an external hard drive? Well, here’s the solution I had to go with today imaging our crappy connection desk computers…
I downloaded SystemRescueCd that contains Partimage on it, booted it up, mounted my Ipod, and imaged [...]
