It’s full of speakers
Glenn Chapman reports at Yahoo News today that they have developed a surface that acts as a loud speaker! The technology was created in an attempt to help the British military silence the rotors on their helicopters, however it utterly failed in that regard.The Good news however is in the spirit of post-it-notes they have stumbled upon a new discovery that could completely change the electronic industry. They have found a way to use this surface as a speaker! The article goes on to discuss the possibility of creating up to six different sections of the surface to generate 6 different sources of sound.. Yep surround sound LCD displays!!! Or how about the deal already made with Hallmark for putting this technology into their card business. Although not fully explored in this Yahoo news article, one can only begin to imagine a world full of speaker surfaces…. Hmmm… how about breakfast cereal boxes that sing? Or Books that speak their jacket cover text when you touch them? Ohh… how about ipods that tell you where you are touching it, so you don’t get knifed in a subway for wanting to skipping “My Heart will go on” by Celine Dion that your wife put in your itunes library……I hate that song.
