Dual-boot *nix, os x + Windows = Incorrect Windows Time
I dual-boot my laptop since my work environment is mostly Microsoft and I want to fit in. Actually Jim puts spyware on my machine to make sure I am in Windows. That’s also a lie. Truth is, I support Windows therefore I am in Windows, but there’s always been a minor annoyance that finally forced me to consult my colleague, Google.
When a strapping young lad dual-boots an operating system that bases it’s local time on UTC (Official U.S. Time Clock) with a Windows partition, he will soon find out that his clock is always off by the time he finds himself back in Windows. Windows likes to look at the system clock and then apply the appropriate time zone’s time when it feels like syncing which will cause it to be off for quite awhile when you first boot into windows. This easy fix I’m about to show you will tell Windows to consult the UTC for it’s time and make for a little more enjoyable Windows experience (just a little more).
Open up regedit, hang on..don’t lose me, this is not as bad as your past experience in the registry. Add the following DWORD and set the value to 1 and you have completely fixed the situation.
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation\RealTimeIsUniversal
Don’t forget the value change to 1 then reboot.
Now, every time you boot into Windows for work or whatever reason you’re forced into the crappy operating system, you’ll have the correct time and you won’t miss that important 9 o’clock meeting regarding the problems your Microsoft Exchange server is having.

thanks, that really came in handy!
Once you have Regedit up, how do you add a DWORD exactly?
Right-click, left-click new, then click dword
Man thanks,
you saved my life!
