Developing CSS in style
CSSedit is a Mac OS X only tool that makes CSS editing and developing a dream. I’ve always struggled to develop sites completely in CSS due to the incredibly complicated structure and editing of CSS. However CSSedit has completely changed my viewpoint on CSS. Now developing a site completely in CSS has become the standard for me, which has increased my overall speed of development and speed of page loads. There are two key features of CSSedit that has made it a staple of webdevelopment for me.
First, having a built in “preview browser” allows me to see changes I am making to the css instantly. And when I say instantly I mean changing the margin attribute of a section by typing 1-0 it first shows a margin of “1″ then “10″ since that’s what I typed. I can instantly see if a change has given me the desire I was seeking for or just wasting me time. And since the browser is a full web browser I can test local pages or a live site.
Secondly, the ability extract and locally edit the css of another site, lets me find how others are doing the css mojo they do, and make adjustments to my own sites before I push it out.
If your running OSX and you develop sites you are wasting your time without CSSedit. Now if your running windows, sorry! Seriously though, I’ve looked around and found some thing that looks somewhat similar and might be worth a shot. If your feeling adventurous and want to give it a shot or if you know of a great css editor for windows or linux. Drop us a line or post a comment and share the goodness.
To try out CSSedit visit Macrabbit for a free demo that will allow you to try it out, but not save any changes you make…so don’t go crazy until you buy it.
